So, check out our 2018 Mazda CX-5 dashboard light guide to learn about some of the most common dashboard lights you may see while driving around the greater Miami area.
Mazda CX-5 Wrench Indicator Light
The first light to look at is the Wrench Indicator Light. This dashboard light is part of your car’s Maintenance Monitor that keeps track of your routine maintenance needs. If you see this light, it means that you’ve reached your preset maintenance period, or it’s time to replace your engine oil.
Whether you’ve seen the Wrench Indicator Light or not, keep in mind that you should never go more than 12 months or 7,500 miles (whichever comes first) without an oil change.
Mazda CX-5 Warning Dashboard Lights
Brake System Warning Light: If you see the image of an exclamation mark in a circle over the word “BRAKE” when the parking brake isn’t engaged, it’s important to contact your local Mazda dealership as soon as possible. This could indicate that your brake fluid is low or that there’s a problem with the brake system.
Charging System Warning Light: A picture of a battery indicates a malfunction of the alternator or the charging system. Pull over as soon as it’s safe and contact an authorized Mazda technician for assistance.
Engine Oil Warning Light: This indicator is an image of an oil can and means that your engine oil may be low. Pull over as soon as it’s safe to do so to avoid expensive engine damage. Contact a Mazda service center. If the light stays illuminated even when the oil reservoir is full, have your car towed to an authorized Mazda dealership immediately for a professional diagnosis.
Master Warning Light:A yellow light that looks like an exclamation mark in a triangle indicates that there’s a vehicle system malfunction. If you have a Multi-Information Display, check the warning light in the upper part of the display to learn which system should be checked. If you don’t have a Multi-Information Display, the light could mean that there’s a malfunction in the battery management system or in the brake switch. See a Mazda technician immediately.
Check Engine Light: This light looks like an engine and indicates that there’s a problem with a vital vehicle system, such as the electrical system or emission control system. Contact a Mazda dealership as soon as possible for a professional diagnosis.
High Engine Coolant Temperature Warning Light: If you see a red light that looks like a thermometer being dipped in liquid, the engine coolant temperature is too high. If the light is flashing, drive slowly until it’s safe to pull over. Wait for the oil temperature to return to normal. If it’s a solid light, pull over immediately and turn off the engine to let it cool.
