Interpreting Your Dashboard Symbols
The symbols on your Mazda CX-3 are color coded just like a traffic light and denote the level of attention you need to provide should they appear. Green-colored symbols appear most often and let you know when certain systems or features are in use, like your turn signal.
Yellow indicator symbols appear when a non-emergency issue occurs or when a feature is disabled. Red warning symbols appear when a serious malfunction has occurred and requires immediate attention.
Mazda CX-3 Yellow Indicator Symbols
Check Engine Indicator Light – this dashboard symbol looks like the profile of a car engine and indicates when there is a malfunction with your vehicle’s emissions control system. You should schedule to have a full diagnostics test done at your earliest opportunity.
Traction Control System Indicator Light – this symbol looks like the rear of a car with two wavy lines underneath the tires and alerts you to when the system is engaged. If this symbol remains lit while driving, a malfunction has occurred, and a service appointment should be scheduled.
Cruise Main ON Indicator Light – this symbol looks like a speedometer with an arrow pointing to a set speed and appears when the cruise control system is enabled. The symbol should appear green when cruise control is set and in use.
Low Fuel Level Indicator Light – this dashboard symbol looks like a gas pump and appears when your Mazda CX-3 is dangerously low on fuel. You should immediately head to the nearest gas station to avoid a breakdown.
Power Steering Malfunction Indicator Light – this symbol looks like a steering wheel with an exclamation point to the right of it. If it appears while driving, power assistance might not be available. You should schedule a service appointment to have this checked out.
Mazda CX-3 Red Warning Symbols
Engine Oil Pressure Warning Light – this dashboard symbol looks like a dripping oil can and indicates that your oil pressure is dangerously low. Immediately check your engine’s oil level and add the required amount. Should the light remain lit, schedule a service appointment for an oil change as soon as possible.
Charging System Warning Light – this symbol looks like the top of battery and indicates a serious malfunction in your battery system. If driving, do not turn off the engine until you are in a safe location and, if possible, immediately head to a service center to have your electrical charging system inspected.
Brake Warning Light – this symbol looks like an encircled exclamation point with the word “brake” underneath and indicates that either your brake fluid levels are low or there’s an issue with your anti-lock braking system. You should immediately schedule a service appointment to have your Mazda CX-3 inspected.
Seat Belt Unbuckled/Malfunction Warning Light – this dashboard symbol looks like a person seated with a 3-point safety belt crossed over the torso, and indicates when someone’s seatbelt isn’t properly latched, or the sensing system has malfunctioned.
Airbag/Front Seat Belt Pretensioner Warning Light — this symbol looks like the profile of a seated person wearing a safety belt and the airbag is engaged. When lit, it indicates when a malfunction has been detected in the vehicle’s front airbag system. Immediately schedule a service appointment to have it inspected.
