Enhanced Performance

Under the hood, the Mazda CX-5 and Toyota RAV4 offer similar engines to create a dynamic and enhanced ride. The 2019 Mazda CX-5 comes standard with a SKYACTIV®-G 2.5-liter 4-cylinder engine that outputs 187 horsepower and 186 lb-ft of torque. The Dynamic Force 2.5-liter inline 4-cylinder engine found in the RAV4 does offer slightly more power with 203 horsepower, but falls short achieving only 184 lb-ft of torque at 5,000 RPM. However, the Mazda CX-5 offers an available engine option that boosts efficiency to 250 horsepower and can achieve 310 lb-ft of torque at only 2,000 RPM.

To make driving even more thrilling, the Mazda CX-5 comes standard with SKYACTIV®-VEHICLE DYNAMICS with G-Vectoring Control Plus to deliver a smoother ride, even when cornering.  Unfortunately, the RAV4 doesn’t offer a driving system like this, which you may notice affects the driving feel of your ride.

Interior Comfort and Styling

The interiors of these refined vehicles feature plenty of amenities to keep you comfortable no matter how long the drive. On beautiful Florida days, these SUVs allow you to open their moonroofs to let in some sunshine. You’ll still be able to stay cool though, since both the Mazda CX-5 and RAV4 have available ventilated seating options.

Where these vehicles differ, though, is in the styling. The 2019 Mazda CX-5 offers premium materials throughout the cabin such as available Caturra Brown Nappa leather seats, genuine layered wood trim, and a leather-wrapped steering wheel. While the RAV4 does feature available SofTex®-trimmed seating, a leather option is not available.

2019 Mazda CX-5 vs Toyota RAV4: Technology Features

With impressive driving dynamics and a comfortable interior, you may find yourself wanting to spend more time driving around. When exploring new areas, these SUVs offer standard 7-inch infotainment systems to keep you entertained. Pair your compatible smartphone to enjoy your favorite music applications and to gain access to navigation helping you arrive safely at your destination.

Driving may be safer in the 2019 Mazda CX-5, though, since it features an available Active Driving Display with Traffic Sign Recognition. This technology projects important driving information including current speed limit signs and navigation instructions right onto the windshield in front of you to help minimize look-away time. In the RAV4, though, you find yourself tearing your eyes away from the road since it doesn’t offer this feature.
