The Mazda3 is pure luxury on wheels—a true stunner on the roads of Doral, Miami, and Hialeah, Florida. Add that to high-end features and a suite of progressive technologies and there is no reason not to take the scenic route. You just have to pick the perfect trim level to do it in.

To help you decide, Ocean Mazda has taken two of the most popular trims and put them side by side in this Mazda3 Select vs. Premium comparison. Which one will be calling your name by the end of this article?

Select vs Premium: Interior Amenities

There is a lot in common between the Mazda3 Select and the Premium trim levels. However, since the Select is the third trim and the Premium is the fifth in the lineup, you’ll find more upgraded features in the latter. This is showcased inside the cabins.

Each comes with the following standard features, to give you a delightful and modern driving experience:

  • Dual-zone automatic climate control
  • Mazda Advanced keyless entry system, with Push Button Start
  • Leatherette-trimmed sport seats

Both trims also are complete with a leather-wrapped steering wheel and gear selector, adding fashion and function to your luxury sedan. However, in the Mazda3 Premium, you’ll also find paddle shifters, allowing you to have a sportier experience behind the wheel.

More amenities are found in the Premium that aren’t standard in the Select. This includes a heated 8-way power adjustable driver’s seat, with lumbar support and 2-position memory.

MAZDA3 Premium vs Select: Technology

The theme continues when we look at the technology in these Mazda3 trim levels. Both include an array of incredibly innovative systems that make you a VIP behind the wheel.

With the following features, you can easily stay entertained and connected at both levels:

  • Apple CarPlay™ and Android Auto™ integration
  • Mazda Connect™ Infotainment System, with 8.8-inch touchscreen and voice command
  • Mazda Connected Services

If you opt for the Premium trim, however, you’ll swap out the 8-speaker sound system for the Bose® 12-speaker premium audio system. This includes Centerpoint® 2 and AudioPilot® to really elevate your listening experience.

Other tech standard in the Select trim includes:

  • SiriusXM® Satellite Radio
  • Mazda Navigation System
  • Traffic Sign Recognition

MAZDA3 Performance

Though there are differences in the technology and the interior features, the performance of the Mazda3 Select and the Premium trims is the same, giving you an outstanding performance no matter which you choose.

Under the hood, you’ll have the power of the Skyactiv®-G 2.5L 4-cylinder engine. This revs up 186 horsepower and 186 lb-ft of torque, the perfect amount of oomph for city and for highway driving.

Though front-wheel drive is standard at both trim levels, you can also opt for the available i-Activ AWD® (all-wheel drive) to elevate your luxury sedan’s traction and control.
